Drug Addiction Treatment.

BREAK THE CYCLE

Drug addiction, detox & recovery

Drug Addiction is a disease centred in the brain and ultimately affects the way a person behaves and feels on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. Addiction to substances is not limited to illicit drugs but includes some legitimately prescribed by a doctor, to assist with chronic pain or anxiety.

These mind and mood-altering substances, ranging from your everyday street drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and heroin, to legally prescribed oxycontin, Valium and fentanyl, build a physical dependence within the human body causing often critical withdrawal symptoms that if not managed correctly, can result in death.

How do I know if I am a drug addict?

You experience intense urges or cravings for a drug or your drug of choice

Your thoughts are consumed with where your next fix will come from

You put your drug before the welfare of your family and others

You try to hide your addiction from others and isolate your using

You experience consistent self-loathing, increased depression, and anxiety, particularly when you are coming down from your high

You experience withdrawal symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea, when you haven’t consumed your drug

Though you want to stop, you feel you don’t have the control

While many people experiment with drugs at some stage throughout their life, most don’t envisage themselves being stuck within the grips of addiction, often seeing no way out of such an existence. What may begin with escaping reality for a short amount of time, more often, and with prolonged use, results in one’s brain chemistry being altered and the choice to ‘get high’ stripped away.

Many people with a regular habit can suffer damaging psychological effects which can lead to depression, suicidal thoughts and even psychosis. Often the outcome of chronic drug abuse results in the loss of one’s family, friends, career and eventually control of their lives.

Heroin & Opiate Addiction, Detox & Recovery

Over time, the abuse of prescription opiates, such as morphine or codeine, can often lead to abusing illicit drugs such as heroin. For many people who become addicted to heroin, debilitating psychological and physical issues may arise, as well as severe addiction syndromes.

At The Bay we will guide you through a comfortable, safe, and relatively stress-free detox process, so that you can stabilise. After detox your individual team of health and wellbeing specialists will help you work through the very specific problems heroin addiction has caused in your life and get to the root cause of your addiction with evidence-based therapies.

If you feel your regular use of heroin and opiate drugs has endangered you or affected your life significantly, remember that you are not alone and, with the proper treatment, you can stop using these substances and regain control over your life.

Choosing the Right Treatment for Opiate Addiction Recovery

At The Bay your program begins with heroin detox, which is monitored by our medical team. Our doctor is on call throughout your detox and rehab program and you receive 24-hour nursing care to help manage any symptoms you may experience during detox. Withdrawal need not be painful or difficult with the proper treatments and in the right environment. Detox usually lasts about seven to 10 days, but may vary, after which you can begin to heal, and commence the treatment process of recovery.

Depending on your physical capacity, you can commence individual therapy sessions during your detox period. These sessions are with massage therapists, yoga instructors, acupuncturists, and other healthcare practitioners. As soon as your strength allows, further treatment can begin.

Through traditional therapy methods such as psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, you can begin to change your behaviour and anticipate problems before they occur while also uncovering the true reasons that caused your initial drug use, such as past trauma or dual diagnosis. And, with your holistic treatment sessions, you will discover new ways to channel your emotions and arrive at a stronger place of self-awareness and recovery.

Why Consider Supported Detox?

It’s not uncommon for people suffering from substance dependencies to have reservations, fears, or even dread around detox. The prospect of losing the one thing that has felt supportive for so long can be frightening and overwhelming – even if you are ready and willing to recover from your addiction.

Depending on the substance involved, your age, and physical condition, withdrawal symptoms can vary. Our personalised treatment program is targeted to meet your specific circumstances and ensures that you will be as comfortable as possible throughout the entire detox process. We have found that this leads to a better result in detoxification, as well as helping to avoid any unnecessary physical discomfort.

What our guests say

I have attended other programs and felt overlooked due to the needs of the more complex clients that were in the program. At The Bay I was the focus of the team and gained a far greater understanding of my situation and was able to make the changes required to live the life I desperately wanted.

The compassion shown to me by the incredible team at the bay has taught me to set boundaries with others, allowed me to re-align my expectations of myself and others and finally live the life I have been craving for many years.”

My wife found The Bay after doing a lot of research looking at programs all over the world. Treatment centres here in the US are very different! My life has changed in so many ways and I continue to stay clean and sober, thank you for all you have done.

The team at The Bay gave me a second chance at life, I was so very sick and although I went to a number of treatment centres I couldn't find a way through, what the wonderful team at The Bay did for me is nothing short of a miracle, thank you.

Having a psychology background I was very particular about what I was looking for, I didn't want group therapy because I was at a point where I knew I needed individual therapy, for me it was a very private process, I needed somewhere that was private and peaceful, it has been five months since I left The Bay, it has changed my life.

I have been in treatment before but couldn't seem to achieve the changes I wanted. The compassion shown to me by the incredible team at The Bay has taught me to set boundaries with others, allowed me to re-align my expectations of myself and others and finally live the life I have been craving for many years.
