REGAIN CONTROL OVER YOUR LIFE

WHAT WE DO

Alcohol addiction, detox & recovery

Alcohol addiction is the dependence on alcohol for everyday survival and to simply function in the world. Alcohol does not discriminate by age, race or gender and is a cunning and powerful disease to navigate. Many alcoholics find themselves at a crossroad of being unable to ‘put down the drink’ and change their direction in life, even though they so desperately want to.

Alcohol addiction can look different for everyone, with some alcoholics drinking daily to the point of inebriation, while others engage in irregular binging episodes. Deep-seated feelings of shame, isolation and loneliness are painful for the alcoholic themself. However, the addiction also causes a damaging ripple effect for those closest to them.

How do I know I’m an alcoholic?

You can’t have ‘just one drink’.

You are unable to limit the amount of alcohol you consume or drink more than the recommended limit, often drinking to obliteration or to black out.

Your drinking puts you or others in unsafe or dangerous situations, causing you to take risks you otherwise wouldn’t, ie. driving over the legal limit

You isolate and drink alone, or hide your drinking from others

Your thoughts are preoccupied with obtaining and drinking alcohol

You crave alcohol or suffer with physical withdrawals, such as headaches or tremors

In many cases, frequent alcohol use can lead to strong withdrawal symptoms for people who suddenly decide to stop drinking. A common symptom of alcohol withdrawal is the Delirium Tremens, also known as the DTs. Effects of DTs may include tremors, shivering, seizures, anxiety and disorientation.

These powerful physical symptoms can make detoxing from alcohol on your own frightening and, sometimes, even dangerous.

What our guests say

I have attended other programs and felt overlooked due to the needs of the more complex clients that were in the program. At The Bay I was the focus of the team and gained a far greater understanding of my situation and was able to make the changes required to live the life I desperately wanted.

The compassion shown to me by the incredible team at the bay has taught me to set boundaries with others, allowed me to re-align my expectations of myself and others and finally live the life I have been craving for many years.”

My wife found The Bay after doing a lot of research looking at programs all over the world. Treatment centres here in the US are very different! My life has changed in so many ways and I continue to stay clean and sober, thank you for all you have done.

The team at The Bay gave me a second chance at life, I was so very sick and although I went to a number of treatment centres I couldn't find a way through, what the wonderful team at The Bay did for me is nothing short of a miracle, thank you.

Having a psychology background I was very particular about what I was looking for, I didn't want group therapy because I was at a point where I knew I needed individual therapy, for me it was a very private process, I needed somewhere that was private and peaceful, it has been five months since I left The Bay, it has changed my life.

I have been in treatment before but couldn't seem to achieve the changes I wanted. The compassion shown to me by the incredible team at The Bay has taught me to set boundaries with others, allowed me to re-align my expectations of myself and others and finally live the life I have been craving for many years.
